Nick: Why do you join COSMOS as an R.A? What do you enjoy about it? And are you an alum?
I joined COSMOS because I wanted to put myself out there and meet new people. I also wanted to get a leadership position and get out of my comfort zone and meet people with similar interests. I like planning the activities for you guys, and even though it doesn’t seem like much from the outside, there is a lot of work that goes into making it what it is. However, I am not a COSMOS alum.
Alec: Why did you commit to UCI? And would you recommend it to other students?
When I was accepted to UCI, they gave me a lot of dates about the open house, which is one of the reasons I was eager to go. When I visited the campus, everyone was so friendly, including the students and the staff, and it was overall a very welcoming atmosphere. Therefore I would definitely recommend it to aspiring students.
Nick: What's your favorite part of UCi?
I feel like the people. When I got here, everyone was really welcoming, super nice, and whenever you wanted to strike up a conversation with someone, they were willing to do it.
Alec: So what was it like planning for the program, and what's it like currently for the events and field trips?
I'll say it is a lot of work. The diversions that it took are many, and even though it doesn't look like much, there was a lot of behind the scenes that went into it. But all of the staff know what they’re doing and we also had meetings to go over it. Some activities are announced at the last minute, but that is something that we need to be prepared for.
Alec: How are floor themes decided?
So, originally we wanted Hello Kitty, but since that was already taken by another hall’s RAs, we had to come up with something else. We eventually decided on another anime company and luckily that was a good theme for our floor.
Nick: What are your future plans after college?
I'm not completely sure yet, but I may be interested in doing a masters program in earth systems science. I would also like to test for my license to become a hydrogeologist. I'm not completely sure because there are a lot of directions I could go once I am done.
Nick: If you could attend one cluster of your choice, what would it be? And if not, which one would you add?
I would join Cluster 5. I feel like if I was a highschooler and didn't know what to major in, I would do engineering, and maybe something to do with aerospace. I went into one of the Cluster 5 labs one day, and seeing the students work on the airplanes was really cool. But I also know that the amount of math and physics engineers have to do would probably not be my thing!
