Interviewers: Jerry Liang

Interviewee: Brendy Ixtan Mateo

Tell me a bit about yourself.

Hello, my name is Brendy and I’m an incoming fourth year. I’m majoring in Business Economics and minoring in digital information systems, I’m going abroad this fall quarter so I’m very excited!

What motivated you to become RA and will you be RA next year for COSMOS?

Two years ago, my friend Caitlin Ashley Yoo motivated me to become an RA. She told me about her experience and encouraged me to join the program. I am not sure if I will be an RA next year as I’m trying to do the UCDC program during that summer.

Concluding the COSMOS camp, what was your favorite part about being an RA or COSMOS in general?

I would say that my favorite part about being an RA for two years was the students, I really enjoy meeting them and helping them with everything they need. I really like interacting with the students and making sure they enjoy their time in COSMOS.

If you were a high school student attending COSMOS, which cluster would you choose?

Ohh good questions, if I were a student attending COSMOS I would choose cluster 9 because it’s so different from my major and anything I have done. I would like to experience working in a lab with smart people.

And finally, a fun question: do you have a special talent that no one knows about and what is it?

I’m trilingual, English is my third language and my first was K’iche’ a Mayan language. I’m a native american Mayan.
